Sage is a Mountain-Ultra-Trail Runner who also competes in road marathons. He is a 3-time USATF National Champion (Mountain Running, Trail Marathon and 100km Trail), and 2-time US Olympic Trials Qualifier in the Marathon (2:16:52 personal best). In 2015 he was 16th place at the Boston Marathon.
In 2012 Sage started running longer ultra-trail races and fell in love with the unique challenges of such events. Some of his top performances on the trail include winning the Speedgoat 50km, three times, setting the course record at the White River 50-miler, winning The North Face 50-mile Endurance Challenge in San Francisco, and winning the Tarawera 100km in New Zealand twice. Heading into the 2017 season, Sage would like to tackle more 100-mile events, with his top goal of competing for the win at races like UTMB and the Western States 100 in the years to come.
Originally from Oregon, Sage now lives and trains in the mountains of Boulder, Colorado where he co-coaches at SageRunning.com with his girlfriend Sandi.
Who is Sally McRae
I am a professional trail runner, wife, and mother of two, from Southern California. I grew up in Costa Mesa, and now live in the beautiful city of Huntington Beach.
I spend most of my racing season training with my crew in the San Gabriel Mountains and on the local South Orange County Trails.
I was born and raised in Southern California and grew up near the beach in the city of Costa Mesa. From an early age, my parents identified my natural competitive and passionate nature and signed me up for a race when I was seven years old.Although successful in local races, I chose to pursue soccer and gymnastics, joining the track and field team as a sprinter in high school only as a way to stay in shape. My success as a soccer player brought me to BIOLA University where I went on to be the Team Captain.
The Chance to Run
After college, I began running long distances as a way to see the surrounding sights and cities of the places I traveled to; and to maintain fitness while pursuing a career. I enjoyed the challenges that came with the marathon distance and qualified for Boston while running my second marathon. I went on to run a handful of marathons before discovering trail running in 2010.
I fell in love with the trail community, and the opportunities the races brought to explore the world around me. I also learned that my competitiveness and speed were good enough to make me a standout in the trail community; and in January 2014, I signed with Nike.

Wendi is a member of Rock Creek Race Team (trail running) & Team Belladium (women’s biking & multisport). Here is what Wendi has to say about her as an athlete:
Why do you run? It is my place of meditation, introspection, & perspective
A toughest moment during a run/race? This varies for me from race to race. But no matter where it is, I find that if I continue to put one foot in front of the other, the “tough moment” usually fades.
Favorite trails to train on:
I can’t say that I have one trail that I necessarily love more than another. Honestly, I love any trails that pull you beyond the treeline where it is simply you and the trail at that moment.
Lifelong goals: I have a number of athletic and life goals & both continue to evolve as I “grow up” , but the current goals I have in sight are to keep running, keep strong, keep my 2 children happy & healthy & keep striving for personal growth. Most Recent Big Accomplishment:
